It all begins with a Young Eagles flight... a flight in which students are taken aloft by volunteer pilots belonging to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). This organization, together with Sporty's Pilot Shop, provides all ground school materials through a scholarship program managed by the EAA. Students are also granted a student membership in this prestigious organization, and qualify for a number of valuable scholarships.

The coursework is mostly computer based and, if you’ve earned your private pilot’s license, you know it is demanding. But, it’s actual flight time in the cockpit that solidifies the knowledge needed to earn your license. For that reason, the club and other community members have stepped forward with flight scholarship funds that are awarded on merit and need.

Once admitted to the class, students have the opportunity to get a $1,000 scholarship through the Sisters School Foundation. They also qualify for EAA Student Scholarships. Every year, the program solicits several wonderful donations from local supporters... enough to ensure the year's students will get several scholarship supported flight lessons. Thank you all! These tax-deductible contributions are managed by Sisters Schools Foundation, a 501c3 organization, and the Sister Science Club.

Energyneering Solutions is a technology firm located at Sisters Eagle Airport, and has provided invaluable support for the Flight Science program... including the establishment of a flying club called Outlaw Aviation. The company also provides a student-centered pilot lounge, and has purchased a refurbished Cessna 172 that is now available to students at a discounted rental rate. These folks exemplify community support!

Another benefit to the students is that the class is a feeder program into the COCC two year degree in aviation. And, if they take the Flight Science Program, and finish their private certificate by the time they graduate, they will receive credit for the classes: intro to aviation, private pilot ground school, and the labs associated with the private pilot flight training.
